A Day With Braylee

Whew — what a day!
I woke up thinking it was just a regular morning, but then I heard footsteps and voices, and I knew something was up. And sure enough, there she was... Braylee, one of my favorite nieces! She’s always been the little one. The littlest niece. Smaller than me, even. But now somehow she’s like two feet taller than me?? When did that happen?? Ugh. Unbelievable. But she still has the same excited energy I remember, and of course, I gave her a big “Danielle” hug right away.
Mom and Dad were there too, and just like that, we all hopped in the car. I buckled myself in and held Braylee’s arm tight while we drove. I knew exactly where we were going!
When we got to Mom and Dad’s house, the day went by in a flash. We did everything. First stop: the ball pit in the basement, my absolute favorite. But then came something even better... pool time! My cute swimsuit was already ready to go, and Braylee’s suit almost matched mine. We were splish-splashing like pros. Of course, I pretended not to notice Dad videoing us the whole time like we were celebrities. (I’m used to it at this point)
Before long, we were back upstairs, and I was in my pajamas, flopped on a blanket on the living room floor, one of my fav spots. It was music time. I played piano, plus my other instruments, and wow, Braylee was impressed. She tried to play too... and, I mean... she tried. Let’s just say
I acted impressed back. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings.
Then came dinner: mashed potatoes and applesauce. Always hits the spot. I was so tired I didn’t even make a fuss. No fights. No drama. I ate every bite.
After prayers, the second my head hit the pillow, I was OUT.
The next morning was kind of a blur... breakfast, getting dressed, driving back to my other house. I have to admit, I did miss my other BFF Lovia. But I like a little excitement in my life every now and then!
I really hope Braylee comes back soon.
But next time, maybe I’ll be taller than her again. (Probably not.)
